IP&O’s Employee Directory Search

With over 3,000 employees in IP&O, there was a need for an efficient internal search tool. I collaborated with the IT department to access a JSON file of employee data, which I integrated into the UI of our IP&O intranet site. The application allows employees to search by name, title, email, or department, making it easier to locate colleagues and streamline internal communication. This tool has become an essential resource for navigating the division.

IP&O Employee Search Functionality

To build the internal employee search for IP&O’s intranet, I pulled a JSON file of employee data from our IT department and integrated it into a Twig template converted from PHP. The system dynamically generates an HTML table displaying key employee properties, including name, title, department, email, campus phone, and extension.

    • HTML

    • CSS

    • JavaScript

    • Twig Templates

    • Drupal

  • The search interface includes:

    • Department filter: Populated dynamically from the JSON deptRS object and sorted alphabetically. Selecting a department updates the table to show only employees within that department.

    • Name search: A real-time, case-insensitive search across all employees that filters by full name and sorts results alphabetically by last name, then first name.
